Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has been boosted by the news that Simone Perrotta could be fit for Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Scotland.
The Roma midfielder had looked doubtful for the crucial Group B clash after picking up a thigh problem last week.
However, the results of a scan on Sunday showed there was no major problem and Perrotta is now set to resume training with the rest of the Azzurri squad.
Donadoni will now be hoping he suffers no adverse reaction in training and will be available for selection in midweek.
Italy were leapfrogged by Ukraine on Saturday and are now fourth in the group.
Scotland and France are level on points at the top and the pressure is likely to increase on Donadoni if Italy do not claim victory in Bari.
