Marco Materazzi has revealed he is ready to give up in his attempts to make peace with Zinedine Zidane.
The pair had an ugly clash during this summer's World Cup final between Italy and France.
Zidane, who is now retired, was sent off for headbutting Materazzi in the chest after the Italian defender made remarks about the Frenchman's sister.
Fifa had indicated they were hoping to arrange a meeting between the pair to try and resolve the bust-up and Materazzi has now lost patience in his bid to bury the hatchet with the former World Player of the Year.
"I have tried every possible way to make up with him," said Materazzi. "But I am just about ready to give up.
"I was prepared to do it after the World Cup, but I've had enough now.
"I no longer want to be a pawn for this reason."
