Struggling Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero was lambasted by coach Marcello Lippi during training on Tuesday.
The incident took place after a particularly poor training session for the Juventus captain in the German city of Duisburg.
During a short practice match the 31-year-old frontman committed a dangerous foul on one of Duisburg's Under-19 representatives, who have been helping the Azzurri prepare.
Despite Del Piero's immediate words of apology to the player, manager Lippi took exception to the challenge and let his star man have it.
The Bianconeri playmaker hardly reacted to the foray of words, but simply left the pitch.
The repercussions for the squad are as yet unclear, but such displays are hardly ideal as the Italians prepare to take on the USA in their second tough game of Group E.
