Juventus attacker Alessandro Del Piero will undergo two weeks' rehabilitation.Juventus attacker Alessandro Del Piero will undergo two weeks' rehabilitation to rest his nagging tendon injury.
Del Piero has been hampered by the problem since Italy's World Cup qualifier against Moldova in early September.
The injury has been cited as the reason behind his poor form for the Serie A leaders this season, amid reports of a feud at Stadio Delle Alpi.
There were also suggestions he would be omitted by Azzurri coach Marcello Lippi for next month's qualifiers against Slovenia and Belarus.
But Del Piero will now be an enforced absentee after Juventus confirmed the forward will undergo a fortnight of intense physiotherapy on the injury.
Del Piero lamented the club's decision to take this course of action but he hopes to return to the team at peak fitness.
"I've tried until the last moment, hoping this problem could be solved," Del Piero told his personal website.
"But it hasn't been so and now I can only stop playing to allow my tendon to be completely recovered.
"Juve's medical staff have spoken of a two-week rest and this means I'll not only have to miss the match against Udinese but also the two matches with the national team.
"It's a pity. I was really keen to be on the pitch. I hope to be playing again as soon as possible."
