Louis van Gaal reiterated his view that Holland veteran Wesley Sneijder needs to "get in shape" before he is considered for international duty.
Oranje coach Van Gaal backed up his decision to omit Sneijder from his initial squad for next week's friendly against Portugal by also leaving him out of his trimmed party on Friday.
The Galatasaray midfielder was quick to voice his dissatisfaction at Van Gaal's decision last week but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss was unmoved.
He told a press conference: "He is not out of sight, but he must first get in shape. Then he will probably play with his qualities."
Paul Verhaegh's place was confirmed as he survived the cut to take his spot for the first time.
The Augsburg full-back was joined by Stijn Schaars and Georginio Wijnaldum, neither of whom were included by Van Gaal last week.
Siem de Jong, Ricardo van Rhijn, Jordy Clasie, Adam Maher and Tonny Vilhena dropped out for the clash in Faro next Wednesday.
The Holland squad is: Blind, Cillessen, Van Ginkel, De Guzman, Huntelaar, Janmaat, Kuyt, Lens, Martins Indi, Mathijsen, Van Persie, Robben, Schaars, Schaken, Strootman, Van der Vaart, Verhaegh, Vermeer, Vlaar, Vorm, De Vrij, Wijnaldum.
