Van Persie arrives

Robin van Persie has linked up with the Holland World Cup squad for the first time.

Robin van Persie has linked up with the Holland World Cup squad for the first time.

The 22-year-old was allowed extra time off following his exertions with Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.

However, he flew to Switzerland on Monday and trained with Marco van Basten's party the following day.

The only player left to join the squad is Barcelona's Giovanni van Bronckhorst - who like van Persie - was involved in the Champions League.

Mark van Bommel decided against taking an extra break and flew into Lausanne on Sunday.

Meanwhile, defender Kew Jaliens looks set to return to training next week.

The AZ Alkmaar defender hurt his leg during a friendly earlier this month and his World Cup hopes were in some doubt - but he has now recovered quicker than originally expected and looks set to make it to Germany.
