Dutch trio Rafael van der Vaart, Nigel de Jong and Hedwiges Maduro are sweating on their World Cup places after picking up injuries.
All three players, who were named in Marco van Basten's provisional squad last week, face a spell on the sidelines through injury.
Ajax's Hedwiges Maduro faces up to a month out of action after picking up an ankle injury during his side's win over Feyenoord at the weekend.
Hamburg duo de Jong and van der Vaart are also set to go under the knife to clear up injuries.
Van der Vaart has been struggling with an ankle problem for some time and the club have decided to send him for surgery.
De Jong has been suffering with a knee injury and he is due to undergo surgery later this week.
It has still to be revealed how long the duo will be sidelined for, but it seems certain they will miss the remainder of the Bundesliga season.
