Belgium dent Advocaat's plans

Holland's preparations for Euro 2004 have been dented by a 1-0 friendly defeat to arch-rivals Belgium in Eindhoven.

A Bart Goor penalty with 12 minutes left gave the Red Devils victory against Dick Advocaat's side, as the former Rangers boss started with an experienced side on Saturday evening.

Despite the likes of Patrick Kluivert and Pierre van Hooijdonk in attack for the Oranje, the hosts could not find a way past Belgium goalkeeper Tristan Peersman.

The Dutch will be disappointed to lose to their rivals at home, as they prepare to face a difficult group stage at Euro 2004.

Holland face Czech Republic, Germany and Latvia in Group D - with the prospect of one major nation going out before the knockout stages of the finals.
