Leeds boss pleased to bring in experienced goalkeeping cover

Simon Grayson is confident Maik Taylor will be a good addition to the Leeds United squad after signing the goalkeeper on a short-term contract. Skysports.com revealed earlier on Thursday that Taylor had agreed a deal at Elland Road after impressing Grayson in training in recent weeks. The 40-year-old Northern Ireland international had been without a club since leaving Birmingham at the end of last season and Grayson is happy to have brought in Taylor's experience. He told the club's official website: "Maik is an experienced goalkeeper who has been without a club since the summer. "He's been training with us for a couple of weeks now and he's a good addition for us. "We've obviously been looking at the goalkeeping situation and with the loan window closing now you have to make sure you're covered. It's good to have Maik as part of the squad." Taylor, who has made almost 600 career appearances and last featured for his country in October, will provide back up for on-loan Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy while Andy Lonergan continues his rehabilitation after fracturing a finger at Doncaster in October.
