Little eyes national team berth

Andrew Little hopes his loan spell at Port Vale will boost his chances of a Northern Ireland call up.

The versatile 22-year-old is on loan at the League Two club from Scottish champions Rangers until January 1, 2012. "It is something that is in the back of my mind," Little told the club's official website. "I spoke to (Northern Ireland manager) Nigel Worthington and he told me I need to be playing on a more regular basis. "I do not expect to be picked for Northern Ireland if I am on the bench at Rangers or playing in the reserves. I have got to be playing week-in, week-out."
