Steve Robinson and Roy Carroll have withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad.Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez has lost two of his squad players for the upcoming games with Wales and Austria, as both Steve Robinson and Roy Carroll have withdrawn before the World Cup qualifiers.
Whilst Sanchez's side cannot qualify for the finals in Germany they are currently on the back of a two-match winning streak and could finish third in what is a competitive Group Six.
However, Northern Ireland will now be without the duo as they host Wales on Saturday then travel to Austria on Wednesday.
West Ham goalkeeper Carroll has sustained a hairline fracture of his thumb although would, in all likelihood, have only been on the bench behind Sanchez's favoured number one Maik Taylor.
Similarly Luton Town's Robinson is a fringe player in the Northern Ireland squad and made his first international appearance for five years in the 2-0 win over Azerbaijan.
The midfielder has been a central figure in the rise of Mike Newell's Hatters this season, although after suffering the heel injury the diminutive star will not be able to stake a further claim for international recognition as European qualifying draws to a close.
