Slaven Bilic has revealed his shock at the death of Gary Speed and also paid tribute to his former team-mate.
The Croatian coach has been friends with Speed since the duo played together at Everton.
Bilic spoke about how he was with Speed just days before his tragic death at the weekend.
"I'm in such a big shock, I still can't believe that he has gone," Bilic told Index.
"I was petrified when I head what happened. Gary was a marvellous person, he was a phenomenal guy.
"I will always remember him, we played together at Everton, where he was my captain.
"Just a few days ago we saw each other in Brussels, where we talked about everything. Unbelievable.
"I really cannot believe this, that is by far the saddest news ever. So sad."
