Speed happy with fixtures

Wales will kick-off their World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign with a home game against Belgium. Gary Speed's men will host Belgium on 7th September, 2012 and they will finish their campaign away to the Belgians on 15th October, 2013. Wales play host to Scotland on 12th October and they make the return trip to Hampden Park on 22nd March, 2013. The first away match on 11th September sees Wales travel to Serbia four days after their opening qualifier against Belgium. Former Wales boss John Toshack will return home with his Macedonia side on 11th October, 2013. Wales boss Gary Speed was happy with the outcome of the fixtures with the Welsh having all their games as double-headers. "This is such a well-balanced group that we knew everyone would be looking for an early advantage," said Speed. "As always, there had to be some give and take, but I am very glad that we did not have to use the June qualifying dates. "All the matches are double headers for us so we need to keep our good form going now through the friendly matches that we have and on to the start of the qualifiers next autumn and beyond."
