Jermaine Easter is set to make his first start for Wales in Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier against San Marino.
Robert Earnshaw is injured and Craig Bellamy missed training on Monday due to a leg problem, so John Toshack has indicated Easter will be given his full Wales debut.
"We are very short of options up front, and we are looking to give Jermaine his chance," explained Toshack.
Wrexham's Steve Evans is likely to keep his place in defence after a battling performance in the 1-0 defeat to Republic of Ireland on Saturday, and he is looking to establish himself as a regular member of the side.
"Everyone was disappointed with the performance in Dublin, and the gaffer was very down afterwards," said Evans.
"What we have to do is to knuckle down and do our best to get a good result against San Marino.
"We have to put behind us that Irish defeat and aim to put things right in our next match.
"From my point of view, I didn't expect to be here. Having been given a chance, I am just loving every minute of it.
"I hope I can be part of Wales' setup long term. I will always give 110 percent and can only hope that it is good enough to keep me here."
