Celtic winger James Forrest has expressed a desire to be a part of Great Britain's Olympic football team.

The Scottish Football Association strongly opposes the idea of Britain entering the competition but Steven Naismith of Rangers, who is nursing a long-term injury, insisted on Thursday that he will be available for selection.

Forrest has also made it clear that he wants to play in the upcoming tournament as he believes it would be beneficial for any Scottish footballer.

"It looks really promising and it looks like a good tournament," Forrest said. "It's obviously down to who gets picked but it would be a really good thing to happen.

"A lot of good players have been mentioned, who could be picked, so to be mentioned would be really good.

"There is no guarantee that I would be picked but any Scottish player that did get picked would have to consider it, it would be a great honour."
