Kris Commons insists his immediate priority is cementing a place in the Celtic team before worrying about reclaiming a spot in the Scotland squad.
The attacker has struggled with injury in recent weeks, but is now back in Neil Lennon's plans at Celtic after returning to fitness after a calf problem.
He has not appeared for Scotland since the friendly defeat by Brazil in March and national team coach Craig Levein revealed a loss of form was behind Commons' omission from the squad earlier this season.
The former Derby County man has spoken to Levein about the situation, but currently wants to focus on regaining his best form for Celtic.
Commons told the Celtic View: "I need to concentrate on my game at Celtic.
"I have spoken with Craig and he's not going to hand out call-ups and caps just for the sake of it.
"While I have been injured I've not been involved in many games over the last four weeks so it's just important for me to stay fit, keep getting fitter and hopefully, if I start producing the football I did last year, I can force my way back into the squad.
"But that's the last thing on my mind at the minute, I just want to get back into the Celtic starting XI and produce the football I'm capable of."
