Alex McLeish has named Shaun Maloney and Craig Beattie in a 26-man squad for Scotland's upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Georgia and Italy, his first two games in charge of the national side.

Scotland, currently top of Group B, take on Georgia at Hampden Park on 24th March before travelling to Bari to take on the World Cup winning Italians four days later.

Steven Pressley is suspended for the game with Georgia but has been included in McLeish's squad.

Maloney of Aston Villa and Celtic striker Beattie have been recalled, while midfielders Scott Brown and Chris Burke have also been rewarded for their fine form in the Scottish Premier League.

Centre-back Gary Caldwell keeps his place, even though he has not played for Celtic since suffering a knee injury in November.

The only uncapped members of the squad are goalkeepers Allan McGregor of Rangers and Everton's Iain Turner.

James McFadden, Darren Fletcher and Garry O'Connor all miss out through injury.
