Germany Under 21s proved good value for a 2-0 win over their Scotland counterparts on Tuesday.

Scotland boss Maurice Malpas handed Under 21 debuts to all bar two of his starting line up who fell behind midway through the first half.

A poor clearance from Hibernian goalkeeper Andrew McNeil inadvertently teed up Aaron Hunt who took a touch before dispatching a fine finish into the back of the net.

Inspired by the outstanding Eugen Polaski, Germany were dominating possession and McNeil was twice called upon to save from raiding full-backs Pascal Bieler and Gonzalo Castro.

After a raft of substitutions at half-time, reserve goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald produced a magnificent save to deny Patrick Ebert's powerful effort from 20 yards, tipping the shot on to the bar.

McDonald was, though, unable to prevent Germany scoring a richly-deserved second goal in the 74th minute.

Ebert's right wing free-kick found Robert Flessers unmarked for the player to volley home emphatically and end Scottish resistance.
