Stuart Pearce is set for talks over his future as England Under-21 boss, FA director of youth development Trevor Brooking has revealed.
Pearce, who has been in the post for six years, will see his current contract expire after this summer's European Championships in Israel.
Brooking intends to discuss whether he will continue with the 50-year-old at a Club England meeting next month and will ask about his club ambitions.
He told The Sun: "I'll sit down with him and see where he is. Over the holiday period, we haven't had that time.
"We've got a Club England meeting in about a month's time and will certainly indicate what the intentions are.
"We'll have a talk with Stuart, so he knows where it is as well."
Pearce took interim charge of the senior England team last season but did not feel ready to take over full-time when Fabio Capello departed.
Brooking added: "At the time, with the seniors, he said he wasn't quite ready for it.
"Does that mean you need more club experience? I don't know."
