Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been quick to warn England manager Roy Hodgson against calling up Jack Wilshere.

The 20-year-old midfielder made a successful return from injury on Saturday against QPR, starting his first match in over 16-months for Arsenal following a string of ankle, foot and knee injuries.

But with England due to play Sweden in a friendly early next month, talk of a recall for Wilshere has already begun - but Wenger has been quick to make his feelings clear on the matter.

"It is a friendly. Jack should skip that," said Wenger.

"What is important now is that he gets back to full fitness for this team. Once he is back he will play for England again, but if it is a friendly.

"I will have a little word (with Hodgson) of course. Anyway, Roy will call me about him.

"I am an understanding manager. If it is a friendly, a full game would be too much at the moment.

"I will speak about it with Roy, but what is important now is that he gets back to his level."
