Michael Dawson believes Scott Parker fully deserved to wear the captain's armband in England's international friendly against Holland.

Tottenham defender Michael Dawson believes Scott Parker fully deserved to wear the captain's armband in England's international friendly defeat against Holland.
The 31-year-old was handed the job by interim manager Stuart Pearce ahead of the likes of Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, Garth Barry and Manchester City team-mate Joe Hart.
It was the first time since November 1998 a Tottenham player has captained England, when Sol Campbell led out the Three Lions against Czech Republic.
Parker has impressed since joining Tottenham from West Ham last summer and Dawson has seen at first-hand how good the former Newcastle and Chelsea man has been.
"Everyone knows how highly we all think of Scotty at Spurs and what a signing he's been for us, sitting in there in front of the back four," Dawson told the club's official website.
"I watched a lot of games when I was out injured and saw from the sidelines exactly what he brings to the team.
"He's been outstanding for us all season and thoroughly deserved to be recognised. He's a top-class player and a top-class person."
