Spurs skipper hails manager's record at White Hart Lane

Tottenham defender Michael Dawson believes the club's fans have every right to be pleading with Harry Redknapp to stay at White Hart Lane. Following Fabio Capello's resignation as England manager last Wednesday, Redknapp has become the overwhelming favourite to take charge of the national team. However, there have been strong calls from the stands and the dressing room for the 64-year-old to stay with the Premier League side as they challenge for the title and another season of UEFA Champions League football. And the support does not surprise centre-back Dawson, who is confident the manager's impact on the club is clear for all to see. "I think they realise what he has done since he came in," he said.

"We were in a bad situation, we were in a bad position in the league table, and the players, a lot of whom are here now, were playing below par. "He has lifted everyone, so of course the fans are going to be happy when we are putting on performances like we did on Saturday and when they see where we are in the league table." Spurs have been without Redknapp recently as he successfully fought tax evasion charges at Southwark Crown Court. But Dawson, 28, revealed his side sat down to watch their manager speak after being acquitted of all charges last week and they are delighted to have him back at White Hart Lane full-time. "We saw the gaffer's press conference the other day and you could see it was a big weight off his shoulders," he added. "It's nice to have him back in training. We haven't seen him for a little while."
