Spurs skipper praises Redknapp's impact at White Hart Lane

Tottenham captain Ledley King wants Harry Redknapp to snub England and stay at White Hart Lane. Redknapp is the strong favourite to replace Fabio Capello as England boss following the Italian's shock departure. The 64-year-old has transformed Spurs' fortunes since his arrival - taking them into the Champions League for the first time and challenging for qualification again this season. But he has admitted the vacant England position would be the "ultimate" job. Defender King hopes his popular boss rejects the temptation and remains with the North London club to help bring a first league title to the Lane since 1961.

Speculation

"As a group of players we love him and hopefully he will stay," he said. "This sort of speculation always happens in football, but we would love to keep him. "Harry has brought the club on massively. We were bottom of the league when he first came in and the results picked up immediately. "Straight away he showed his people skills, his ability to lift players even when their confidence was low. "He has gone from strength to strength, brought in some good, experienced players who know what it takes. It has been really good."
