Harry Redknapp: Focusing on Tottenham amid continuing speculation linking him with England

Harry Redknapp is adamant he will not leave Tottenham Hotspur 'in the lurch' amid continuing speculation linking him with the England job.

Fabio Capello's resignation earlier in the week has seen Redknapp installed as the overwhelming favourite to replace the Italian at the helm.

Spurs boss Redknapp admits he would have to consider any offer from the national team after stating he expects to finish the season at White Hart Lane.

Reports have suggested that the experienced manager could initially take on the England role on a part-time boss before leading the team at Euro 2012.

However, after watching Spurs maintain their Premier League title challenge with a 5-0 home thrashing of Newcastle United, he stressed that he is staying focused on his current job.

Enjoyed

Redknapp told ESPN: "They've been great to me since I've been here, the fans, I've enjoyed every minute at Tottenham. It's gone well for me here and I think we all appreciate each other.

"Things are going well, we've just got to keep focusing on the next game. We've got some great games to come.

"If it ever happened and I got the offer you'd have to consider that, but at the moment I'm just focusing purely on Tottenham.

"I'm not going to leave them in the lurch. Everyone's been great to me, it's going well here and we've just got to keep going."

He added: "I can't honestly say I've had any downside as far as the football goes.

"I've been lucky. I've had good players, I love the way we play and the crowd have been great to me. The chairman has been as good as gold. It couldn't be better for me."
