Emmanuel Adebayor believes Harry Redknapp must stay at Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season after insisting England need the White Hart Lane boss more.
Redknapp is the overwhelming favourite to replace Fabio Capello as England coach following the Italian's resignation earlier in the week.
He is also the popular choice with the players and supporters after helping to transform Tottenham into Premier League title contenders during his time in charge.
Spurs enjoyed a stunning 5-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday and Redknapp received the adulation from the home supporters throughout the game.
Adebayor created four and scored one of Spurs' goals and he called on Redknapp to stay in North London, at least until the end of the campaign.
"He has to stay until the end of the season and from there we'll see," Adebayor told ESPN.
"He gives us confidence, he has done a lot for me when I was going through difficult moments.
"I think England need him more than Tottenham but I assure you he'll be here until the end of the season and then we'll see what happens."
Fellow striker Louis Saha, who scored twice on his home debut, added: "He gives confidence to the squad and the players, it's a real joy to play for him.
"I've just been here a few weeks but I've seen a rise in confidence and already improved, and I owe him a lot."
