Black Cats boss wants Capello to take a look

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has claimed Fraizer Campbell can be one of England's next generation of great strikers. The 22-year-old has scored six goals in pre-season to be in contention to star alongside fellow England hopeful Darren Bent. Campbell moved to the Black Cats from Manchester United last summer, scoring seven goals in 31 appearances, but Bruce has insisted that his performances in pre-season should put him in contention for the national team. Bruce has urged Fabio Capello to take a look at Campbell with a view to promoting him from the Under-21 side to the senior squad in time for England's friendly against Hungary at Wembley on 11th August.

Sensational

"Fraizer has been sensational for us pre-season. He's come back from the summer break and looks a million dollars," Bruce said. "As for England, why not? Why not go with up-and-coming young talent? "We knew when we bought him he was still a bit raw, but he's quick, strong and looks very good already. "The England manager should have a look at him."
