Bridge: I can cure Sven's headache

England squad member Wayne Bridge insists he would love to be handed the opportunity to cure Sven Goran Eriksson's left-sided headache.

The lack of a top class natural left midfielder has dogged Eriksson's reign but the Chelsea defender is convinced he is the man to play in advance of Ashley Cole on the flank.

Bridge's increased confidence in front of goal has been evident recently with the former Southampton full back scoring the crucial goal against Arsenal at Highbury in the UEFA Champions League quarter final and getting off the mark for his country during the 6-1 romp against Iceland last weekend.

After Eriksson experimented with the idea of playing both Bridge and Cole together in the Euro 2004 qualifier with Macedonia at Southampton, the plan has not been developed.

"I'd love to play there as it would mean playing for England," he told Sky Sports News. "I'd play anywhere for England.

"I'd just like to get another chance at it.

"I thought we did do pretty well together. A few people think we did, a few people think we didn't.

"It'd be nice to have another chance and I'm hoping that will come soon.

"I'd like to see it happen again. I thought we played pretty well together as, when he got round me, I'd always fill in for him.

"People say they'd like to see it the other way around, but I'd like to see it tried because it means I'm going to start.

"I watched the game back afterwards and I thought we worked well together. We'll wait and see what happens.

"I'd like to start for England in a big competition like this. Coming on in the World Cup was the best feeling ever. To play in the Argentina game was an unbelievable feeling."
