Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry has decided to represent Germany at international level.
The 18-year-old could have played for the Ivory Coast because his father Jean-Hermann Gnabry is from the African country.
However, Gnabry, who was born in Stuttgart and whose mother is German, wants to feature for Joachim Low's side, having turned out for the country's youth teams from Under-16 level onwards.
"Since I have played for the Germany youth teams, it is no question for me that I want to play for Germany by any means," he told Die Welt.
"I hope that I can make the leap into the first team."
Gnabry has also insisted that he knows he must establish himself as a first-team regular for Arsenal if wants to play for Germany.
"I am fully focused on Arsenal in order to win minutes there," he said.
"Because, to be honest, if that does not happen, making the national team will be extremely difficult. We will see what happens in the future."
