Republic pair set for debuts

Robbie Brady and David Meyler will both be handed Republic of Ireland debuts on Tuesday after Giovanni Trapattoni named his side for the friendly against Oman.

Brady, 20, is yet to make his Manchester United debut, but last week became the Republic's record goalscorer at Under-21 level and goes straight into the full team after being called up for the first time by Trapattoni following Friday's 2-1 win in Kazakhstan.

Sunderland midfielder Meyler will finally make his Republic debut after spending two years battling a couple of serious knee injuries.

Sean St Ledger has been unable to recover from a knee injury for the Craven Cottage clash so Hull's Paul McShane will partner Fulham man Stephen Kelly at the heart of the defence just in front of Millwall goalkeeper David Forde.

Survivor

Seamus Coleman and Marc Wilson will play at right-back and left-back respectively while Andy Keogh and the only survivor from the team that won in Astana - James McCarthy - complete the midfield.

Kevin Doyle will captain the side for the second time and will be partnered up front by West Brom striker Shane Long.

James McClean's Twitter outburst at being left on the bench in Kazakhstan has cost him a place in the starting line-up. The 23-year-old is expected to be among the substitutes on Tuesday.

Robbie Keane, John O'Shea, Darren O'Dea, Jon Walters, Keiren Westwood and Glenn Whelan have been released back to their clubs and will take no part in the friendly in south-west London.
