Fernando Torres was honoured to earn his 100th cap for Spain and thinks the number of centurions in his country's squad reflects the quality of the world and European champions.
The Chelsea striker reached the landmark in Friday night's 5-0 friendly win over Saudi Arabia and he was handed the captain's armband in the absence of Iker Casillas.
Torres follows team-mates Casillas, Xavi and Xabi Alonso in reaching three figures for his country, while Carles Puyol and Sergio Ramos are both in the nineties.
And the former Liverpool man told rfef.es: "It's a day I'm never going to forget.
"The number of players reaching the 100 club says a lot about the national team in recent years and, fortunately, there are many players who will pass 100 games, and younger ones like Cesc (Fabregas) and Ramos.
"We need to be proud about that, it's a team that's been together many years and that makes it is easier to achieve things. I think it's a privilege to be here with these companions."
