Scotland midfielder James Morrison is using the Republic of Ireland as inspiration ahead of his country's World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign.

The West Brom man believes Ireland's qualification for Euro 2012 can be emulated by Craig Levein's men as Scotland look to reach their first international tournament since World Cup 1998.

Balkan countries Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia, along with Wales and Belgium, stand in their way on the road to Brazil.

Positives

Morrison said in the Daily Record: "What Ireland have done can inspire us. When we played them this year we dominated the game so we can take confidence from that.

"Obviously we have another tough group to negotiate but we can take plenty of positives from our latest campaign.

"The squad is coming together and the lads are focused on reaching a major championship finals."
