Ryan Shawcross and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake have been forced to pull out of the England Under-21 squad through injury.
Stuart Pearce's side travel to Norway for the first of two friendlies on Friday before tackling France at Nottingham Forest's City Ground next Tuesday.
But Stoke defender Shawcross and Wolves striker Ebanks-Blake will not be involved in either clash and have returned to their clubs.
Pearce has lost the services of a number of players since announcing his squad with captain Steven Taylor and Arsenal forward Theo Walcott ruled out through injury and Aaron Lennon called into the senior party by Fabio Capello.
Martin Cranie, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Shawcross were brought in as cover, but the Potters youngster has now been ruled out.
