George Burley has called up uncapped pair Steven Fletcher and Christophe Berra in his first Scotland squad.

The Scotland boss has also rested Rangers defender David Weir for the friendly against Croatia at Hampden on 26th March.

Hibernian striker Fletcher, who will be 21 on the day of the game, and 23-year-old Hearts defender Berra have enjoyed fine seasons to date for their respective clubs.

Burley hinted last week he would leave out Weir because of Rangers' hectic schedule, but he rejected suggestions his exclusion spelt the end of the 37-year-old's international career.

Sunderland defender Russell Anderson has earned a recall in a 26-man squad, after returning to action on loan to Plymouth following a three-month lay-off with a knee injury.

West Brom striker Craig Beattie misses out, after picking up an injury while on loan at Preston.

Otherwise Burley has kept faith with most of the squad that went so close to qualifying for Euro 2008 under Alex McLeish.
