Atletico de Kolkata have been crowned the first Indian Super League champions after beating Kerala Blasters 1-0 courtesy of a stoppage-time goal.

Substitute Mohammed Rafique scored in the dying seconds with a header following a corner to beat goalkeeper David James.

It was controversial, though, as the corner was allowed to be taken in the fifth minute of added time after only three minutes was put up by the fourth official.

Kerala, co-owned by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, will feel hard done-by after dominating the game.

Michael Chopra had the best chances for the Blasters but was denied by a string of fine saves by Apoula Edel.

But it was Kolkata, co-owned by Spanish club Atletico Madrid and former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, who were celebrating at the D.Y. Patil Stadium near Mumbai.
