Villa boss denies permanent deal has been struck for forward

Alex McLeish has sought to clarify any confusion regarding Yannick Djalo's link to Aston Villa, with the forward set to undergo a trial. The player, who is currently on the books of Sporting Lisbon, announced on his Facebook page that he is on his way to Villa Park. It was reported that a deal had been struck to land him on a permanent basis, with a transfer set to be pushed through in January. McLeish claims that is not the case, with Villa only planning to take a look at the 25-year-old. "We're just going to look at him on trial," said the Scot. "Talk of signing him is premature. "I didn't really want it to be anybody's business, but I know the lad put it on Facebook himself, so what chance have you got?"

Prudent

Djalo currently finds himself in contractual limbo, with French outfit Nice having agreed to sign him over the summer, only to see FIFA block a deadline day move when they did not receive the necessary paperwork in time. It was expected that the deal would be rekindled in the New Year, but Villa have now entered the chase. McLeish is keen to explore all options available to him, with Villa working to a tight budget as they attempt to bolster their ranks. "We'll quietly look at people when we get an opportunity," he said. "There's others that are out there as well. "We want to try and do things carefully and prudently, and we'll continue to do so."
