Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse is loving life in the Greek Super League with Panathainikos.

The 28-year-old has been on fire since joining the Athens club in the summer, netting 17 times in 21 games so far this season.

Rumours had circled that the Frenchman was being tracked across Europe during the January transfer window but he said: "I am feeling very well. I scored two goals on Sunday against Larissa and I am very happy here. The fans are fantastic and I love to play for them."

Panathanaikos are currently six points clear at the top of the Super League table and Cisse is keen to maintain their run of form in order to secure the title.

He added: "We need to push on and win the league this season and it is my job to score the goals to do that."

Although Cisse's hopes of making France's World Cup squad appear thin, he is willing to do all he can to claw his way back into the reckoning.

"I always think about Les Bleus but Mr Domenech is the boss. I just need to keeping scoring and keep hoping that I could play for them again."
