Inter boss willing to give Portuguese star another chance

Jose Mourinho is prepared to offer Ricardo Quaresma the opportunity to resurrect his Inter Milan career. The Portugal international joined the Serie A giants from Porto last summer, but struggled to make an impact at Giuseppe Meazza. He was subsequently loaned to Chelsea during the winter transfer window and will see out the current campaign in England, although he has slipped well down the pecking order under Guus Hiddink. Quaresma will then return to Italy, with speculation suggesting he could be on the move once again in the coming months. However, Inter boss Mourinho believes the tricky winger could still have a future under his leadership should he display a willingness to improve. "It is likely that he will return to us," he told A Bola. "He must then show a different mentality to that which we saw during his first few months at Inter."

Mourinho has also refuted suggestions that Quaresma's failings have warned him off his Portuguese compatriots. He insists he is not looking to his homeland for reinforcements at present, but claims he may do in the future. "The fact that I am not thinking about other Portuguese players at the moment is not because of what has happened with Quaresma, it's due to the market situation and I don't see anyone in Portugal that interests me," he added. "Maybe I will look for a Portuguese player that doesn't play in Portugal."
