Mexican legend Cuauhtemoc Blanco has announced his retirement from international football.
The veteran striker made his 100th appearance for his country in a 2010 World qualifier against Canada on Wednesday and has decided to call time on his involvement at that level.
The 35-year-old had made his intentions clear prior to kick-off, and was able to bow out on a high as he came on as a late substitute in a 2-1 win.
He scored 34 goals during a 13-year international career, a record which puts him fourth on his country's all-time goalscoring list.
Blanco admits he would have preferred to make his final appearance at the famed Azteca Stadium, but concedes that it is time to let the younger generation take his place in the fold.

"The decision was already made," he said.
"I'm content. I believe that my time in the selection is done."
Blanco made his debut for Mexico in a friendly against Uruguay in February 1995 and featured at the 1998 and 2002 World Cup finals.
He currently plays his club football in the American MLS with the Chicago Fire.
