Veteran striker Henrik Larsson is staying with Helsingborgs after signing a fresh one-year contract.
The 37-year-old had been out of contract, leading many to believe he could have returned to England again on a short-term deal.
However, a move failed to materialise as Larsson was keen to remain in his homeland.
HIF chairman Sten-Inge Fredin has revealed his delight that the former Manchester United and Celtic marksman has penned a new deal at the club.
"It's with joy we announce that Henrik Larsson will continue to play football and stay at HIF during 2009," Fredin told the club's official website.
