Coach commits to beaten semi-finalists

Fatih Terim has agreed to stay on as Turkey coach just a week after declaring his intention to quit his role with the national side. Following Turkey's Euro 2008 elimination at the hands of Germany at the semi-final stage in Basel, Terim signalled his intent to call time on his reign. However, the Turkish Football Federation has now confirmed that Terim has been convinced to extend his stay until 2012. Federation president Hasan Dogan never wanted Terim to leave his post and after productive talks with the highly-rated coach, new terms have been agreed. The 54-year-old, who has previously coached Milan, Fiorentina and Galatasaray, had been linked with a return to club management.
