Defender struggling with knee injury

Turkey defender Gokhan Zan will miss his country's Euro 2008 Group A clash with Switzerland. The centre-half has damaged ligaments in his knee and will be forced to sit out the crucial encounter on Wednesday. The Besiktas star sustained the injury in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Portugal, with the full extent of the problem being revealed in a scan he underwent 24 hours later. Turkey's medical staff are doing all they can to get him fit in time for Sunday's clash with Czech Republic, but concede that even that may come too soon. Fatih Terim's plans will be further hindered by the news that Gokhan's partner at the heart of the defence, Servet Cetin, is also a doubt heading into the midweek clash with the Swiss. Servet is also struggling with a knee complaint, while he still requires treatment on a broken tooth suffered against Portugal.
