Winger to miss crucial Spain game

Keith Gillespie has revealed his anguish at being forced to miss Northern Ireland's Euro 2008 qualifier against Spain. The winger is suspended for the clash after being booked for a challenge on Chris Sorensen in the 2-1 victory over Denmark on Saturday. Gillespie feels he was harshly done by as he prepares to support his team-mates from home in a game they must win. "I'm disappointed to be missing the match," he told the Daily Mirror. "The booking against Denmark was an early challenge in the match and I just caught their lad a little bit. "The referee should have considered the terrible playing conditions and had a little word with me. "I am upset and will now have to be content with cheering the lads from home. Captain Aaron Hughes, meanwhile, has praised Nigel Worthington for keeping Northern Ireland in with a chance of qualification. He said: "We have come a long way. Lawrie Sanchez started it off and now Nigel has come in and tried to continue it."
