Yossi Benayoun has admitted his 'devastation' at missing Israel's Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia.
The Liverpool midfielder has been forced out of Russia fixture after tearing his adductor muscle in the Premier League victory over Fulham at the weekend.
If Russia defeat Israel in Tel Aviv on Saturday, England's hopes of reaching the finals of Euro 2008 would effectively be over
And Benayoun, who captains Israel, has revealed his disappointment at missing out on the crunch tie.
"It's a slight tear and I have cancelled my flight back home," said Benayoun.
"I am devastated to miss the game and yes, I know how important our match is to all of England.
"I know how much they want us to win and I was hoping to do that, but now it's out of my hands."
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez also confirmed that Benayoun - who scored a hat-trick in the Reds' recent 8-0 UEFA Champions League rout of Besiktas - is definitely ruled out for Israel.
"It is clear he is injured and he cannot play," Benitez concluded in the Mirror.
