Ashley Cole has been ruled out of England's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia.
England boss Steve McClaren has called in Middlesbrough right-back Luke Young, who has seven caps to his name, as defensive cover.
Everton's Joleon Lescott could now slot in at left-back, although the experienced Phil Neville and Reading's Nicky Shorey will also be hoping to feature.
Neville is just one short of 60 caps for his country, although Lescott's impressive form in the position may give him the advantage over his club colleague.
England will qualify for the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland next summer with a win in Russia on Wednesday.
