Celtic will face Italian giants Inter Milan in the first Europa League knockout phase in a repeat of the 1967 European Cup final.
Elsewhere in the round-of-32 draw, Everton take on Swiss club Young Boys, Liverpool will face Turkish club Besiktas, Tottenham are pitted against Serie A's Fiorentina and defending champions Sevilla are up against Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
Inter general director Marco Fassone said: "I remember the final of the champions in the final in the 60s. It was a traditional match between two great teams, two teams who used to play Champions League and were very well known abroad.
"Also I hope that this one will be a great match."
Everton ambassador Ian Snodin said of facing Young Boys, who have an artificial pitch: "We're quite happy to be honest. I'm sure the Evertonians watching back home, the manager and the players are deilghted. There's not much distance for travelling so overall we're very pleased.
"I think we've got players that can adapt to that. You can't tell with these synthetic pitches these days - it's a fantastic surface. We're raring to go, looking forward to it and will hopefully get into the last 16.
"It's crucial that your second leg is at home so hopefully we'll do a reasonable job in Switzerland, hopefully win the tie here and then have the second leg at Goodison. First and foremost, we want to win the competition. We're desperate to win some silverware."
Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba, who now plies his trade for Liverpool's opponents Besiktas, said the draw: "It's a difficult pairing.
"Liverpool are having some hard times now. They couldn't get the results they desired and things are not going well for them (but) hard games are ahead of us. If we can snatch a good result in the first leg, it will be an advantage to be playing the second leg at home."
Former Reds midfielder Dietmarr Hamann, who helped the Anfield club to the Champions League in 2005, added of Besiktas: "Don't underestimate them, but if the (Liverpool) team plays to the potential that they can, I expect them to get to the last 16.
"The rules have been changed and the winners get a spot in the Champions League, which would be a tremendous achievement."
Despite losing their last two group games, Scottish champions Celtic escaped from Group D and have been rewarded with a tie against Group F table-toppers Inter, who were undefeated in the group phase.
The two legs will hark back to the famous night in Lisbon on May 25, 1967 when Celtic lifted European football's holy grail by coming from behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Tommy Gemmell and Stevie Chalmers.
The Milanese club went some way to avenging the defeat five years later, when they beat Celtic 5-4 on penalties in the semi-finals of the same competition before falling to Ajax in the final.
The ties are scheduled for February 19 and 26
