Brian Marwood insists Manchester City's Europa League draw against holders FC Porto in the last 32 will be an 'attractive' tie.
City failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League after finishing third in their group, which contained Bayern Munich and Napoli, despite finishing with 10 points.
And now they face the defending Europa League champions, who also finished third in their group with Apoel Nicosia and Zenit St Petersburg advancing.
But City's football administration officer Marwood is relishing the two-legged tie against the Portuguese giants.
He told Sky Sports News: "Well, it's amazing isn't it? I mean, gone through probably the hardest group in the Champions League, and disappointed not to have gone through to the next stages, we now get the holders. So, a big game for the club and one we'll be taking seriously as (manager) Roberto (Mancini) said after we were knocked out of the Champions League."
With potentially nine matches ahead of the Blues if they were to go on and win the Europa League, Marwood is just happy they have not had to go through the earlier stages of the competition.
"The one thing we haven't had to endure is the earlier rounds where we've done that in the past and you do play an awful lot of games and that can be very hard, no matter what big squad you have," he continued.
"It's something we'll certainly look forward to. Porto are a very attractive opposition and are of course the holders of the trophy."
If City get past Porto they would face the winners from the tie between Legia Warsaw or Sporting Lisbon, but Marwood is not looking too far ahead.
He added: "That draws been made and we'll leave that for another time. We need to focus on Porto. It's going to be two games home and away amongst a lot of fixtures over the next three months actually and they're all games we're excited about."
