Chelsea travel to Turin to play Juventus on Tuesday night knowing that a win would seal their progression into the last 16 of the Champions League.
The European champions threw away a two-goal lead in the fixture at Stamford Bridge to draw 2-2 and Roberto Di Matteo will be hoping his side can bounce back from Saturday's 2-1 Premier League defeat at West Brom.
The two sides met in the knockout stages in 2009 and Sky Sports take a look at Chelsea's recent trips to Italy.
AC Milan 1-1 Chelsea, 28th October 1999
A late equaliser from captain Dennis Wise earned Gianluca Vialli's side a vital three points in the San Siro. The draw for Chelsea meant that they needed just a point from their final group game against Hertha Berlin to qualify for the second round. Oliver Bierhoff looked to have grabbed the three points for Milan before Wise replied almost immediately after being set up by Roberto Di Matteo's smart ball over the top. The game is regarded as one of Vialli's finest moments as Chelsea boss and the Blues went on to progress through the second round group stages to the quarter finals where they were eventually beaten by Barcelona.
Lazio 0-4 Chelsea, 4th November 2003
The Blues recorded an impressive 4-0 win at the OIympic Stadium in their Champions League Group G game against Lazio. Hernan Crespo opened the scoring from close range before Eidur Gudjohnsen, Damien Duff and Frank Lampard all got on the score sheet to help Claudio Ranieri's side to an emphatic win. The game was overshadowed by the sending off of Lazio defender Sinisa Mihajlovic. The Serbian inexcusably kicked out at Adrian Mutu before spitting in his face. Chelsea had Glen Johnson dismissed late on but they had already made their one man advantage count by that point. Ranieri's men went on the reach the semi-finals only to be knocked out by Monaco who were beaten in the final by Jose Mourinho's Porto.
Roma 3-1 Chelsea, 4th November 2008
Despite coming into the game having already won the previous fixture 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, Luiz Felipe Scolari's side were well beaten by Roma at the Olympic Stadium. Christian Panucci gave Roma the lead before a stunning Mirko Vucinic double put them three goals up. John Terry pulled one back for Chelsea before Deco was dismissed after being given a second yellow card for attempting an early free-kick. Had Chelsea managed to beat Barcelona in the semis, they would have returned to the Olympic Stadium for the final, but they were beaten semi-finalists yet again.
Juventus 2-2 Chelsea, 10th March 2009
In the same campaign, Chelsea's 2-2 draw in Turin earned them a place in the quarter finals having already beaten Juventus 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the previous leg. Vincenzo Iaquinta gave the Italian giants the lead before Michael Essien pulled things level just before half-time. Juventus then had Giorgio Chiellini sent off for a second yellow card and it looked as if Chelsea would be able to see the game out. However, minutes later Alessandro Del Piero put Juve back in front from the penalty spot after Juliano Belletti was adjudged to have handled the ball. Belletti then redeemed himself when he crossed for Didier Drogba to seal Chelsea's progression.
Inter Milan 2-1 Chelsea, 24th February 2010
Jose Mourinho inflicted pain on his former team as his Inter Milan side beat Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea 2-1 at the San Siro. Diego Milito got the hosts off to the perfect start, opening the scoring after just three minutes. Salomon Kalou equalised just after the break but minutes later, Esteban Cambiasso restored Inter's lead with a strike from the edge of the box. Chelsea had to replace Petr Cech with Portuguese goalkeeper Hilario during the second half after the Czech Republic international was stretchered off with a knee injury. The return game saw Mourinho's side victorious again in a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge thanks to a Samuel Eto'o strike which ended Chelsea's hopes against the eventual champions.
Napoli 3-1 Chelsea, 21st February 2012
Juan Mata gave Chelsea the lead in the last 16 knock-out game against Napoli but the Italian side turned things around and picked up a comfortable victory. Mata volleyed in after half an hour before Argentinian striker Ezequiel Lavezzi equalised with his first of two goals on the night. Edinson Cavani fired Napoli in front and Lavezzi extended the lead with his second of the game. The result heaped more pressure on Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas who was now five games without a win. Villas-Boas was sacked just over a week later and Di Matteo took charge for the return game at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea remarkably turned things around, winning the tie 5-4 on aggregate after extra time. It is seen as the game which revived Chelsea's fortunes and they went on to lift the trophy under Di Matteo's guidance.
