Relive Barcelona's journey to the Champions League final as we highlight the route they took.

Barcelona 5 Panathinaikos 1, September 14

Sidney Govou actually put the Greek side ahead in the 20th minute before Lionel Messi scored two and missed a penalty as David Villa, Pedro and Daniel Alves also all got on the scoresheet.

Rubin Kazan 1 Barcelona 1, September 29

Rubin, something of a bogey side for Barca, were more than a match for their illustrious visitors. They took a 30th-minute lead through Christian Noboa's penalty after Alves felled Vitali Kaleshin and only Villa's spot-kick on the hour earned them a draw.

Barcelona 2 Copenhagen 0, October 20

Barca's unbeaten start to the campaign continued as Messi's brilliant first-half opener seemed set to pave the way to a comfortable win. But Guardiola's side failed to convert their dominance and Copenhagen had chances to level before the little Argentinian added a scrappy second late on.

Copenhagen 1 Barcelona 1, November 2

Again Barca were held on the road in a game low on quality but high on emotion. Like the first encounter, Messi put Barca ahead in the first half, but this time the Danes responded immediately as Claudemir levelled quickly and the sides cancelled each other out, preventing Barca from securing their progression. Perhaps the most interesting flashpoint was a heated touchline row between Guardiola and opposite number Stale Solbakken.

Panathinaikos 0 Barcelona 3, November 24

Winger Pedro scored in each half with Messi making his obligatory contribution in Athens as the Blaugrana rubber-stamped their knockout-stage spot as Group D winners.

Barcelona 2 Rubin Kazan 0, December 7

Barca complete the formalities by finally defeating their Russian nemesis, fringe players Andreu Fontas and Victor Vazquez striking in the second half. LAST 16

Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1, February 16

Barca dominated their English counterparts and led through David Villa's first-half strike. Further goals seemed inevitable but the visitors were stunned by Robin van Persie's powerful equaliser and undone by Andrey Arshavin's winner in a stellar display of Arsenal counter-attacking.

Barcelona 3 Arsenal 1, March 8

If the first leg was exciting, the second was dramatic. Barca again dominated possession and Messi's delightful goal levelled the aggregate score. However, Sergio Busquets' own goal gifted Arsenal a crucial away goal. But Robin Van Persie's controversial second booking for dissent incensed the Gunners before Xavi's strike and Messi's penalty wrapped up the 4-2 aggregate win. QUARTER-FINAL

Barcelona 5 Shakhtar Donetsk 1, April 6

Andres Iniesta, Alves, Gerard Pique, Seydou Keita and Xavi all got involved as Barca routed the over-achieving Ukrainians, who had been quietly upbeat about their chances heading into the tie.

Shakhtar Donetsk 0 Barcelona 1, April 12

With the tie effectively won, Barca then broke Shakhtar's proud unbeaten home run in the competition through Messi's 43rd-minute goal at the Donbass Arena. SEMI-FINAL

Real Madrid 0 Barcelona 2, April 27

Jose Mourinho's negative tactics backfired in an unpleasant first leg overshadowed by hostility and gamesmanship. A dearth of quality was overcome by Messi's conversion from an incisive team move and then a sublime individual goal of trademark brilliance.

Barcelona 1 Real Madrid 1, May 3

Pedro's 54th-minute opener seemed to seal Barca's progress after Madrid's 45-minute war of attrition. Marcelo soon made it 3-1 on aggregate but it was too little, too late as the Catalans overcame their bitter rivals to book a Wembley date.
