Carlo Ancelotti says he would like to remain as Real Madrid head coach despite the Champions League semi-final defeat to Juventus.
The defending champions were dumped out of the competition 3-2 on aggregate after only managing a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu.
They now look likely to end the season without any silverware, leaving Ancelotti’s position under scrutiny.
“I would like to stay,” said Ancelotti, who is under contract at Real until 2016. “But the club has the right to change the coach if they are not happy.
"If the club is happy with the work I've done in two years, then I can continue. If they are not happy, they have to make a decision. I know how football works.
“There is not much point talking about the future today. I would always give myself 10 out of 10 because I always give everything to my work, although I don't like awarding myself a mark.
"We did everything we should have. We attacked a lot. We had chances. If there is anything we should reproach ourselves for it's the first leg."
After losing 2-1 in Turin, Real moved ahead on aggregate at the Bernabeu following Cristiano Ronaldo’s 23rd-minute penalty.
But the hosts paid the price for failing to score a second as Alvaro Morata’s strike sealed Juve’s place in the final.
“Tonight we played our best, we were a bit unlucky” said Ancelotti. “We had control, a lot of chances but were not lucky to score another goal. We had a lot of opportunities to score the second.
"Football is about small details. Last year we won the Champions League in the last minute and everyone said there was a little luck. If there is luck, there is also bad luck. This time we had no luck."
Gareth Bale was guilty of spurning a couple of decent chances, but Ancelotti said: “I think he played better, he worked hard, as did all the team, we did our best but it was not enough to reach the final.”
