Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is confident they can build on their positive start to the season as they try to secure their first silverware since 2005.
Wales international Ramsey has been in fantastic form this season, scoring 13 goals in 23 appearances for club and country.
Arsene Wenger's side top the Premier League and are closing on a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League, to leave Ramsey in confident mood.
"We are always hungry to win things and to win games. It is no different this season," he said.
"In the last few seasons we have suffered from getting off to bad starts and having to play catch up.
"Now we have put ourselves in a fantastic opportunity early on so hopefully we can continue that over the Christmas period because we know our form after Christmas has been second to none over the last few seasons.
"Hopefully we can put ourselves in that position where we are there or thereabouts because we know we are confident enough after that."
Ramsey scored the winner in Arsenal's 1-0 Group F win at Borussia Dortmund in round four of the Champions League, a result he feels will further boost their confidence, especially as they lost at home to the German side.
"Having lost at home against Dortmund there was a bit of pressure on us to go there and get a result, which we have done and we did ever so well," he added ahead of Tuesday's game at home to Marseille.
"We are back in a strong position again, so let's take it into the next game, hopefully get the win there and put ourselves in an even stronger position to qualify."
